Portland has never been short on good stories. Especially the ones told after dark.
Go back far enough and the waterfront was a different place: crowded docks, noisy saloons, fog off the river, and no shortage of tales about people who vanished into the city’s underground passageways. Some were true. All of them got better with a whiskey in hand.
Somewhere in there were the sirens.
A Call From the River
Sailors have told stories for centuries about voices from the water that lured travelers somewhere they shouldn’t go. We liked the idea enough to put it on a bottle.
3 Sirens imagines three figures calling from the Willamette, pulling travelers deeper into the fog toward a waterfront where not everything after dark was meant for daylight.
Meet the Whiskey
3 Sirens Straight American Whiskey is 503’s newest spirit, 88 proof and built to be flavorful without needing a whiskey dictionary. Drink it neat, over a big cube, or in a cocktail. We won’t tell you you’re doing it wrong.
“3 Sirens is the kind of whiskey that calls you back for another taste,” says co-owner Rusty Caldwell. “We wanted something flavorful and distinctive, but still smooth and versatile enough to drink however you like.””
The bottle backs that up: three sirens on the label, deep blue and gold, ornate details that look like they belong behind an old Portland bar. Dark. A little dangerous. On purpose.
The Verdict Is In
During our release party, we offered special whiskey flights that let guests compare our Straight American Whiskey against established premium brands in the same price range. The feedback? Let’s just say we’re not surprised our whiskey held its own against brands that have been in the game for decades. Don’t take our word for it – come in and put it to the test yourself.
The Sirens Take Over 503
On Saturday, September 26, we’re bringing that story to life at the Iron Fireman building with nautical details, dramatic lighting, siren imagery, and enough old Portland atmosphere to make you wonder what you walked into.
The party runs from 7 to 10 p.m. with first tastes of the whiskey, specialty cocktails, music from DJ Ambush, and Hawaiian food from 808 Grinds. Bottles and merch will be available, along with plenty of spots for a photo proving you answered the call.
Come Early
Admission is $15 and includes a drink ticket and samples. The first 50 guests get acommemorative 3 Sirens snifter. That’s it, so don’t dawdle. Nautical-inspired dress is encouraged, whether that means captain, deckhand, mermaid, or mysterious Portland fog-dweller. Your call..
